Keri Russell in Talks for DARK SKIES
Keri Russell and Daniel Barrett are in talks to join the sci-fi leaning horror feature Dark Skies. Priest director Scott Charles Stewart is set to direct, and Bloody Disgusting reports that the story centers on “a 6-year-old boy who’s apparently been ‘marked’ by an alien (living among us) for future abduction.” They note that the plot apparently shares some of the same themes as Fright Night, while also tapping the child abuse story mine.
Russell and Barrett would play the child’s parents should they sign on, and Blumhouse Pictures is producing. For those unfamiliar, Blumhouse is responsible for the “low budget/big profit” model and is the studio behind the Paranormal Activity films and Insidious. It’s safe to assume that Dark Skies may include some form of found footage given the studio’s penchant for the genre. Russell recently signed on to star in the espionage drama pilot The Americans for FX, so should the network pick the show up to series we’ll be seeing quite a bit more of the Felicity actress.

First still from ‘Goats’
I have added first still from Goats. Goats is in the Premieres section of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival
Congrats to Honey Badger director Chris Neil on his feature directorial debut being awarded entry into the Premieres Section of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. The film, based on a book of the same name by Mark Jude Poirer, stars David Duchovny, Vera Farmiga, Graham Phillips, Ty Burrell and Keri Russell.
An oddball coming-of-age story about a teenage boy (Graham Phillips) who leaves behind his carefree mom (Vera Farmiga) and a best-friend goat-herder (David Duchovny) — I’m not making this up — to attend a prep school where he reconnects with his estranged father (Modern Family’s pater familias Ty Burrell). Based on the cast alone, this is intriguing. Plus, hey – goats! (Director: Christopher Neil, Screenwriter: Mark Jude Poirier, based on his own novel)

Leaves of Grass Being Pushed Back for a Summer Release
Edward Norton, via his Twitter account, has reported that his film Leaves of Grass (directed by Tim Blake Nelson) is being pushed back. It was supposed to be released these week. Norton says:
“Very good news, the film has been picked up by a new company and will be given a much wider summer release. Details to come but we’re all really happy because now it will likely get to many more cities than just NY and Dallas. This happened very much due to great audience response and reviews and press out of SxSW. So huge thanks to everybody in Austin.”
In Leaves of Grass, Bill Kincaid, a college classics professor (Norton) is lured home from the Ivy League to the backwoods of Southeastern Oklahoma by his identical twin (also Norton), a hedonistic, pot- smoking career criminal. Kincaid finds that Plato and Marcus Aurelius have ill-prepared him for dealing with a gang of homicidal yokels.
There is presently no word on when this film will come to theaters
