New FX Drama The Americans to Premiere at MIPCOM

The new FX period drama The Americans has been slated to debut at MIPCOM’s World Premiere TV Screenings on Monday, October 8, to be followed by a Q&A with stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys and the production team, moderated by World Screen’s Anna Carugati.

The show will have its world premiere screening in the Palais des Festivals’ Grand Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Golden Globe-winning actress Keri Russell (Felicity, Mission Impossible III) and Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters, The Edge of Love) will be attending the screening and will be part of a Q&A that follows. Also taking part are David Madden, the president of Fox Television Studios, and Eric Schrier, the head of series development for FX and executive VP of FX Productions. Carugati, World Screen’s group editorial director, will be moderating the panel.
The Americans is being sold internationally by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. The show is scheduled to air in early 2013.

“We are delighted and honored that FX Networks has chosen MIPCOM to screen The Americans for the very first time, in the presence of its remarkable actors and producers,” said Laurine Garaude, the director of Reed MIDEM’s television division. “The recurring success of the World Premiere TV Screenings at MIPCOM and MIPTV confirms the event’s position as a premium showcase for leading television and film companies to screen outstanding programs to the most influential buyers, industry players, and international media from over 100 countries.”

“It is a great honor for us to be able to host the world premiere screening of The Americans at MIPCOM,” added Schrier. “We are very proud of the series and are thrilled with the work of creator/executive producer Joe Weisberg and our outstanding cast led by Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys. The Americans has such wide international appeal and it is only fitting that the first screening is held at MIPCOM.”
