As Christmas approaches, Keri Russell only has one man on her mind – and it ain’t Santa Claus!
No, this holiday season, the former Felicity star is all about entertaining her 17-month-old son, River.
“This is our first real Christmas,” Russell tells PEOPLE. “We had one last year but [my son] River was such a baby, so this is the first year that he’s older and can run around.
It’s also the first year Russell and her husband Shane Deary will be in their new Brooklyn home.
“I will be really nice,” she said. “We’re sort of hoping to create our own [traditions] this year.”
The former Felicity star, who costars in the upcoming film Bedtime Stories, said it’s been a joy watching her son grow.
“He’s very cute and his personality is definitely coming out because he’s a year-and-a-half,” Russell said Wednesday at an event for Just Look for UL, a campaign to teach holiday safety tips. “He’s very sweet. He’s just a sweet, mild-mannered guy. He’s definitely a boy. He loves playing with trucks, being with his dad.”
As far as juggling motherhood and work, Russell manages by prioritizing. “I’m working on it,” she says. “It’s just an everyday process. You just take it a day at a time and try to keep the things that are important, like family, important.”
