Keri Russell Is Coming Back to TV! FX Orders The Americans

Hey, Felicity fans, rejoice!

It’s official: All three members of one of TV’s greatest love triangles (we dare you to say otherwise!) are coming back to TV: Scott Speedman (in ABC’s Last Resort), Scott Foley (in Fox’s The Goodwin Games), and now, Keri Russell. FX has picked up to series The Americans, a drama also starring Matthew Rhys (Brothers & Sisters) and Noah Emmerich.

This news comes a week after FX president John Landgraf told critics at the TCAs that the pilot would very likely be picked up to series. We love a man who stays true to his word.

The Americans takes place in Washington, D.C., right after Ronald Reagan is elected president and revolves around two KGB spies, Phillip (Rhys) and Elizabeth (Russell), posing as an American married couple with two children. Their arranged marriage evolves into a genuinely loving relationship as they navigate the escalation of the Cold War, but their kids know nothing about Phillip and Elizabeth’s true identity. Adding another complication to the “happy” family is their neighbor Stan (Emmerich), a counter-intelligence FBI agent.

“We’re proud to welcome The Americans, a taut series that crackles with incredible performances rooted in character perspectives never explored on a U.S. television series, to FX’s line up of quality dramas,” Landgraf says in a statement. The Americans, which starts production in October, is set to premiere in early 2013.

What’s your initial take on The Americans? Are you as excited as we are about Keri Russell’s coming back to TV?

Keri Russell to Star in Horror Thriller ‘Dark Skies’

Keri Russell will star in Dark Skies, a supernatural thriller written and directed by Scott Stewart, who previously made Priest and Legion.

Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions (Insidious, Paranormal Activity) are producing Dark Skies alongside Alliance Films, which will fully finance the picture. Dimension Films will distribute the film in the U.S.

The plot involves an alien disguised as a human and a boy tagged to be abducted.

The movie is scheduled to go into production later this summer.

Russell, repped by WME and the Burstein Co., next stars in FX’s drama pilot The Americans. She has the romantic comedy Austenland in the can.

Some Tarrytown Homes Possible Location for TV Pilot Starring Keri Russell

“The Americans,” a television drama in the works to star Keri Russell (of “Felicity” fame and the movie Waitress) as a Russian spy living in suburban America in the 1980s, is apparently scouting home locations in Tarrytown.

According to one source, scouts were photographing every room in the houses of several Tarrytown residents this weekend. Until contracts are signed, these residents can’t talk, but a sizable fee could be on the table.

The series is being produced by DreamWorks, Fox Television Studios and FX Productions. Trying to find someone inside these operations to confirm this is much like entering a spy drama itself. Continue reading Some Tarrytown Homes Possible Location for TV Pilot Starring Keri Russell

Keri Russell in Talks for DARK SKIES

Keri Russell and Daniel Barrett are in talks to join the sci-fi leaning horror feature Dark Skies. Priest director Scott Charles Stewart is set to direct, and Bloody Disgusting reports that the story centers on “a 6-year-old boy who’s apparently been ‘marked’ by an alien (living among us) for future abduction.” They note that the plot apparently shares some of the same themes as Fright Night, while also tapping the child abuse story mine.

Russell and Barrett would play the child’s parents should they sign on, and Blumhouse Pictures is producing. For those unfamiliar, Blumhouse is responsible for the “low budget/big profit” model and is the studio behind the Paranormal Activity films and Insidious. It’s safe to assume that Dark Skies may include some form of found footage given the studio’s penchant for the genre. Russell recently signed on to star in the espionage drama pilot The Americans for FX, so should the network pick the show up to series we’ll be seeing quite a bit more of the Felicity actress.
